Liz Anders, Moderator
Liz Anders, Principal at Liz Anders & Associates, advises individuals on fine art acquisitions and divestitures and prepares fine art appraisals for insurance, estate planning and donation purposes. She previously worked at Kinzelman Art Consulting in Houston as well as in New York at Christie's Auction House. Liz holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin, her M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Art, Connoisseurship and the History of the Art Market from Christie's Education, New York and her Certificate of Appraisal Studies in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Liz currently serves on the HCP Board of Directors.
Joe Aker, Panelist
Joe Aker is an internationally-recognized architectural photographer whose photos have appeared in architectural magazines. He was recognized as Artist of the Year by the Houston AIA chapter, 2007. He has a degree in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology. opened his own photography studio in 1987 and continues to operate it today as Aker Imaging. Solo shows of his work have been shown at Deborah Colton Gallery, Houston, Buchanan Gallery, Galveston, and Frank Picture Gallery, Santa Monica. His work has appeared in numerous museum group shows and is in the permanent collection of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Jereann Chaney, Panelist
Jereann Chaney is HCP's Board President and has an impressive photography and fine art collection. Chaney has been seriously collecting since 1995, concentrating on young, "cutting-edge" artists and their work. 100 pieces from the collection were exhibited in 2007 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in the exhibition Red Hot: Asian Art Today From the Chaney Family Collection. In 2008 Chaney donated End Game to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston by artist Damien Hirst. Chaney currently sits on the boards of Houston Center for Photography, Contemporary Art Museum Houston, and the Blaffer Art Museum. She is a supporter of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Houston Center for Photography, The Menil, Blaffer Art Museum, Lawndale, DiverseWorks, ArtLeague, Aurora Picture Show and Glasstire. Chaney participates in many facets of the art world through museum shows, gallery shows, art fairs, travel, and the internet.
Frazier King, Panelist
Frazier King has served on the HCP Board of Directors for ten years and was Chair of the Exhibitions Committee from 2008 until August 2012. Mr. King continues to serve on the Exhibitions Committee and participates in the Exhibitions Committee process of selecting exhibitions. Mr. King has also provided curatorial input and served as curator for HCP's 2010 show entitled Created and Found Maps. As a collector, Mr. King exhibited his collection in the second FotoFest Collector's Eye Exhibition shown in FotoFest headquarters from October through December 2012. In addition, Mr. King is a widely-shown photographer and has participated in FotoFest and other international reviews since the 1980s.
