Master Class

Workflow with Adobe Lightroom
Scott Martin

March 27 & 28, 2010
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
@ HCP
$350 HCP members only

Take a walk through Adobe's newest program, Lightroom, and discover what it can do for your workflow as a photographer. This 2-day workshop with Scott Martin takes an intense look at optimizing the digital photography workflow from capture to print using the latest version of Adobe Lightroom.

Day 1: Capture and Organize
• An overview of all RAW software available today
• The story behind Adobe Lightroom and its future direction
• Optimizing exposure for RAW development
• The DNG format and how to incorporate it into your workflow
• File Management, including transitioning between desktop and laptop

Day 2: Develop and Printing
• Optimizing RAW development with Lightroom’s Develop Module
• Advanced display calibration
• A look at every digital fine-art printing process available today
• Web authoring procedure and 3rd party solutions
• Printing tips from Lightroom
• Review sample prints

Participants are encouraged to bring challenging RAW files of their own images. HCP has Lightroom installed on Apple iMac computers, but participants are welcome to bring their own laptops if they like. This class will be fast-paced, providing only a small time for students to work on their own images. Although there won’t be designated shooting time, participants may want to bring cameras and test various exposure concepts after class. Plan on leaving the first day with "homework" (the good kind).

This class is great for both the professional and serious amateur photographer. A good working knowledge of computers and photography is required.

About Lightroom
Adobe Lightroom software is the new Photoshop written from the ground up for photographers capturing images with the RAW camera format. Lightroom provides photographers with an elegant and efficient way to work with their growing digital image collections, bring out the best in their images, and make an impact from raw capture to creative output, all while maintaining the highest possible quality each step of the way.
• Manage your growing photo collection in a visual library that makes it quick and easy to organize, find, and select your images.
• Get the absolute best quality from every shot—whether raw, JPEG, or TIFF—using state-of-the-art nondestructive editing tools.
• And when you're ready, showcase your images with the impact they deserve using customizable print layouts, powerful slideshows, web gallery creation tools, and connection to online photo sharing sites.
