Advanced Photography: Words and Images
with Dion McInnis
April 19, 26, & May 3, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
$120 HCP members / $150 non-members

Words and images are inseparable because we are visual communicators as a species. Images conjure up stories and words prompt images. Words can be used to guide, enhance or further explain images or series of images; likewise, images can be used to illustrate stories, journals, poetry and more. This class is for the student whose skills are sufficient in both writing and photography to examine how to blend them for the enhancement of both .

Students will be guided through the process of finding the words to explain or complement their images in options such as captions, paragraphs and poetry. This can occur by using a ¨shoot journal,¨ which will be discussed. We will also look at words as inspiration. Using exercises and homework, students will become more comfortable in utilizing words and images together.

The next step will be to show students how to use the combined efforts for a series project or book.
