This 3-day workshop takes an intense look at optimizing the digital photography workflow from capture to print using Adobe Lightroom v2.

Day 1: Capture and Organize

• An overview of all RAW software available today

• The story behind Adobe Lightroom and its future direction

• Optimizing exposure for RAW development

• The DNG format and how to incorporate it into your workflow

• File Management, including transitioning between desktop and laptop

Day 2: Develop

• Optimizing RAW development with Lightroom’s Develop Module

• Participants will develop their images

Day 3: Printmaking

• Advanced display calibration

• A look at every digital fine-art printing process available today

• Web authoring procedure and 3rd party solutions

• Review sample prints

• Learn print specifications needed for exhibition / Printing from Lightroom

• Participants will leave with one fine-art print of their own work!

Participants are encouraged to bring challenging RAW files of their own images. Because HCP does not have Adobe Lightroom installed on any of the equipment, computers will not be provided. Participants with laptops should bring them; however, this class will be fast-paced, providing little time for students to work on their own laptops.  Even without laptops, students will certainly get plenty out of this class and should also attend. Although there won’t be designated shooting time, participants may want to bring cameras and test various exposure concepts after class. Plan on leaving each day with "homework" (the good kind).

This class is great for both the professional and serious amateur photographer.  A good working knowledge of computers and photography is required.
