Please join us for a reception with Mike Marvins to celebrate his new book Texas' Big Bend: A Photographic Adventure published by Bright Sky Press. Marvivs' book includes over 200 of his color photographs of the Big Bend Region with an informative foreward by Roy Flukinger, the longtime photography curator of the University of Texas' Harry Ransom Humanities Center, and preface by Bill Wright. 

Texas' Big Bend: A Photographic Adventure is a comprehensive photographic study of the Big Bend region, Texas' Big Bend presents a stunning area of the nation in a manner that lifts it up to an artistic experience, recreating the feeling many people have when they first encounter the natural beauty of the area. These interpretive photographs take the viewer more deeply into the magic of Big Bend than previous guidebook/panorama-type books have.

A fourth generation professional photographer, MIKE MARVINS has traveled Big Bend witha backpack, by car and on horseback for over twenty years. Limited edition portfolios of his Big Bend photography have been acquired by major museums in Texas, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas in Austin. An ardent supporter of the Park, Marvins is donating his royalties to the Friends of Big Bend, a group that raises funds for improvement within the national park.

Texas' Big Bend: A Photographic Adventure will be available for purchase at HCP the night of the event for $35 (plus tax).
