The summer reading group will tackle the most popular photography theory and criticism texts and essays and discuss them to gain a better understanding of the theory behind the art of contemporary photography.

June 16 - The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin
June 30 – Camera Lucida Part 1 by Roland Barthes
July 14 - Camera Lucida Part 2 by Roland Barthes
July 28 – "What Can Help" section of Why People Photograph by Robert Adams
Aug 11 – A Little History of Photography Criticism: or, Why Do Photography Critics Hate Photography from The Cruel Radiance by Susie Linfield
 

This course will meet 6 times. 

No registration is needed for this class. Just come to HCP on the day of the meeting.
