I have been involved in digital photography as a serious amateur for about 12years. I have taken courses at Houston Center for Photography, internet courses, read many books on the subject and practiced a lot. Once you buy the digital camera digital shooting thousands of images and viewing them on your computer screen is of little cost except for the pain you experience at seeing how many of them are bad.
I have used and am using many types of cameras from simple point and shoots through Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras (DSLR). I am also very involved in learning what to do after capturing the images, besides taking them to Walgreen's. I have a long association with computers, computer programming and data analysis so the challenge of complex computer programs to be used in conjunction with digital photography has kept me joyfully occupied. I have been using various versions of Photo Shop and other software for post processing and also for printing my own photos for about the same 12 years.
Although it may sound trite, for me the journey is truly the goal. My always evolving answer to “What do you like to photograph?” is “Lots of things but mostly people.” This interest probably stems from my 45 year career in Education and Psychology, and my research in human behavior. My secret goal is to create “Iconic” images that would cause people like Penn, Cartier-Bresson, Newton and (insert your favorite photographer here) to ask me to join them.
