HCP’s PictureThis! outreach program is a collaborative program with Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center and Texas Children’s Renal Center’s Quality of Life Program, where HCP instructors work with over 500 patients, their siblings, and other family members each year. This photography-based arts program started in 2002 enabling the young patients to focus on healthy, youthful aspects of their lives by allowing them to look at their surroundings through a different perspective. In 2012, the program expanded allowing us to work on long-term projects with children in their rooms in addition to the projects we create with children in the out-patient areas.
An exhibition of work created by participants in Picture This! HCP’s Outreach Program at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology and Texas Children’s Renal Centers. A selection of this artwork has been part of the Making A Mark exhibition, an exhibition of art by children with cancer and blood disorders, presented by the Periwinkle Foundation.
Special Thanks to the Clayton Dabney Foundation, the John M. O’Quinn Foundation, the Simmons Foundation, the Texas Commission on the Arts and Tri Delta Art Show for Charity for their support of the PictureThis! program.
