Infected Landscape
May 21 - June 28, 2009

Opening reception at HCP, Thursday, May 21 from 6-8pm.

Shai Kremer´s Infected Landscape depicts Israel´s terrain altered by the destructive nature of long running conflicts. From the most obvious physical marks to the most subtle, traces of Israeli military presence are evident in the artist´s work, shedding light on the nation´s convoluted relationships with surrounding territories.

Shai Kremer (b. 1974 Israel) lives in New York and Tel Aviv. In 2005, he received an MFA in Photography and related media from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He has had solo exhibitions in the USA, China, and Europe. He was a finalist for the 2007 Aperture Prize and the 2007 HSBC Award, and a runner-up in the 2007 Aperture Portfolio Prize. His work is in several museum collections including the SF Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, The Jerusalem Israel Art Museum, and the Tel Aviv Contemporary Art Museum. His monograph, Infected Landscape, was published by Dewi Lewis Publishing in 2008.
