DiverseWorks and Houston Center for Photography band together this summer to present the 4th annual summer SPIN party and exhibition Lens Libs: Photography´s take on your favorite word game! on Friday, July 25 from 8pm-11pm at Houston Center for Photography, 1441 W. Alabama St.

The walls of HCP will be transformed into a giant "Mad Lib" with an invitation to the public to fill in the blanks with a photograph representing parts of speech such as a noun, verb or adjective. SPIN4: Lens Libs will feature an open bar sponsored by Real Ale Brewing Company, and music from local DJ artist Shoe. Tasty BBQ will be available for purchase outside. The exhibition will continue through Sunday, July 27. Tickets are available at the door on the night of the event for $10 (DiverseWorks and HCP members, students and seniors) and $15 for the general public. Tickets are cash only at the door, and advance tickets can be purchased until 4pm on the day of the event for $10 on HCP´s by clicking on the related events at the bottom of this page. Discounted memberships to both the organizations will be available the night of the event. The first 50 guests to the event will receive a complimentary Mad Lib game courtesy of Penguin Group!

By melding photography with text, performance, and audience interaction, Lens Libsco-curated by HCP and DiverseWorks and presented by the SPIN4 Host Committee, creates a whimsical look at the local art community. Text on the gallery walls will be written by local art writers and critics, the action of "filling in the blank" with a photograph from the general public will prove to be both fun and thought-provoking.

DiverseWorks and HCP invite the community to participate in this interactive exhibition by bringing a photograph measuring no more than 8 ½ x 11" to the event, Friday, July 25th, which they think represents either a noun, verb, or adjective. DiverseWorks and HCP staff and volunteers will then "fill in the blanks" at random as the night goes on. All images brought by the general public will have the opportunity to grace the walls during the exhibition period. The final result will remain on view at HCP July 26 and 27 from noon to 6pm. The HCP gallery will be free and open to the public over the weekend.
