HOUSTON, TX – HCP's Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Bevin Bering as Interim Executive Director. Bering will step aside from her role as a member of HCP's Board of Directors and as Gallery Director for Bering & James, a commercial gallery in Houston specializing in emerging and mid-career artists. An artist herself, Bering also owns and operates Bevin Bering Photography, where she created exhibitions and managed large-scale installation projects for Houston businesses including Minute Maid Corporation and Methodist Hospital. Bering is a 6th generation Houstonian who has a long history of service in the non-profit sector; she is currently serving on boards and committees at Trees for Houston, Tri Delta Art Show for Charity, and the Menil Collection. The 2009-10 HCP Board President Bob Gulley noted that, "Bevin is an exceptional choice for the Interim Executive Director role; her dedication to HCP, positive energy, and creativity will help guide HCP as it continues its upward trajectory." Bevin began her tenure on Monday, stating that, "I am excited about beginning a new chapter in the organization's history with the Board and staff. We have lots of success of late to be proud of and I look forward to stewarding and fostering HCP's continued growth in this transitional period."
Bevin Bering is welcomed by outgoing Executive Director & Curator Madeline Yale who is transitioning into her new role as HCP's Adjunct Curator in the coming weeks. Yale is moving to London and Dubai to pursue a PhD in the field. She will oversee HCP's exhibitions and was appointed to HCP's Advisory Council.
Now celebrating its 28th year as a model non-profit in the field of photography, HCP is conducting a national search for a permanent Executive Director. For more information, please visit the Employment Opportunities section on HCP's website at www.hcponline.org.
