Houston, TX- Houston Center for Photography proudly announces its 2009 Print Auction.
The annual event, HCP’s largest fundraiser, will take place Thursday, February 12, 2009,
beginning at 6pm, at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane, Houston, TX
77027. World renowned auctioneer Rick Wester will conduct the auction of live prints. The
event begins with cocktails, entertainment, silent auction and live auction preview. Dinner
is served at 7:30pm, live auction begins at 8:30pm. The silent auction closes 15 minutes
after the completion of the live auction. Tickets are available for purchase on HCP’s
website at www.hcponline.org. Individual tickets are $95. Table sponsorships are available
at $1,500 (table of 10) and $900 (table of 6). Absentee bids welcomed. The silent auction
works are available for pre-purchase on HCP’s website (www.hcponline.org) with a “Buy it
Now” feature at 125% of the works’ valuation. For questions, reservations, or request a

works can be previewed at HCP’s auction exhibition from January 19 – February 10, 2009.
Included in this year’s selection are works by Peter Brown, Tom Baril, Elinor Carruci,
Christopher Rauschenberg, John Chervinsky, Gabriella Kolavová, Thomas
Kellner, Keith Carter, J. John Priola, Pavel Banka, Alex Webb, and Michael
Kenna. Several small prints will be auctioned with signed copies of the artists’ new
Also being offered is a portrait of Georgia O’Keeffe by William Clift. Generously donated by Houston philanthropists Charles and Beth Miller, Georgia O’Keeffe, New Mexico, 1981 is a wonderful portrait of the artist at home. Mr. Clift moved to Santa Fe in 1971 and began photographing there extensively. He resides there today and continues his work of photographing landscapes of the southwestern United States
Each year, HCP holds its annual print auction where artists, galleries, and collectors from around the world donate fine photographic works to be auctioned for the benefit of HCP’s operational fund. With work included from over 70 artists, the selection is an impressive catalog of vintage and contemporary fine art prints from both established and mid-career photographic artists collected in both the museum and private sectors. One-hundred percent of sales from the auction will go to the continued exhibition, educational, outreach, and publication work that HCP provides to not only the Houston community but to the international photography community.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s group, Photo Forum, will be co-hosting a tour of the auction exhibition in the HCP galleries
on February 9, 2009 at HCP beginning at 6pm, led by Anne Wilkes Tucker, Gus and Lyndall Wortham Curator of Photography at the
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Clint Willour, Curator, Galveston Arts Center. This event is co-sponsored by Photo Forum and is
free and open to the public. Drinks will be served.
