Exploring contemporary approaches to documentation of human beings process of aging, Prime Years, curated by Fernando Castro, encompasses many aspects of the process.
Castro explains, ”Nowadays people in the developed world are living longer and healthier. “Sixty,” some say, “is the new forty.” Thus the image of a person who has reached “retirement age” is not necessarily of someone who needs to slow down, but rather of a very driven person with whom we might have trouble keeping up." The work represented in Prime Years also addresses the "physical and mental erosion of facilities" associated with disease and the aging body. The exhibition provides a positive and holistic approach to the subject.
