Habitat 7 - Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao
Four of the earliest major civilizations were formed in river valleys. The fertile lands provided surpluses of food that allowed for the growth of populations, development of cities, and thus civilizations were created.

Landscapes: A Photography Exhibit by Houston and Texas Artists
Houston Center for Photography, Houston Arts Alliance, and the City of Houston Mayors Office of Cultural Affairs are pleased to present an exhibition of Houston and Texas artists. The nine individuals featured in this photographic exhibition at City Hall draw inspiration from the natural environment to make images. Varied in their approaches to their subject, each has a sensitivity towards the Earth and endeavors to capture glimpses of unfettered landscape in Texas and surrounding states.

Artist as Performer
Inspired by the era of YouTube, the exhibition Artist as Performer features artists performing in front of the camera. Employing photography, video, and video installation, these artists use their bodies in constructions that are often quirky and perplexing. Several play-act in an effort to define themselves and how they relate to others and the environment. Others use the studio as a sculptural laboratory space to explore action and physical relationships between objects. Several artists make narratives, either re-creating scenes from memory, or fabricating fictional tales.
