Biography

Britt Ragsdale is a lens-based visual artist born and raised in Southeast Texas. She received her MFA in Photography and Digital Media from the University of Houston and her BFA from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. She learned darkroom photography as a teenager and has continued her love for all things photo through digital imaging and video. She is co-founder of the artist-run mobile exhibition space, The Lens Capsule, in addition to teaching at Houston Community College. Ragsdale is motivated by the uncanny possibilities that familiar materials have when they are rendered unfamiliar through construction and/or presentation. She explores these interests through photography, video, sculpture, installation and performance.
