HCP Instructor Jimmy Loyd

Biography

Jimmy Loyd has been a photographer for the past 25 years. Early in his career, he took photography classes and worked at a photo center where he learned darkroom techniques and shot portraits, weddings and industrial photography. Later, he spent 14 years with Olan Mills Church Division where he took professional portraits of families all over the country. During the early 90's, he shifted to digital photography because Olan Mills was one of the first companies to support its use. In 1997, he took the entrepreneurial plunge and started his own business, Jimmy Loyd Photography. This creative, rewarding endeavor has been his passion ever since. Not only does he have his own studio, he also does freelance work for various news media in the area including the Houston Chronicle. Currently he teaches photography at Alvin Community College, Houston Center for Photography and West University Parks and Recreation
