 Houston, TX – Houston Center for Photography (HCP) announces its 2012 Photography Fellowship Competition. Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $2,500 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in the summer of 2012. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100-mile radius of Houston including Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship and another artist from anywhere in the world will receive the HCP Fellowship, supported by the Joan Hohlt and Roger Wich Foundation. Christopher Rauschenberg, Co-Curator and Board Chair, Blue Sky Gallery (Portland, OR), will jury the fellowship selection. Deadline for submissions is Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:59 p.m.


HCP's Fellowships are geared towards the completion and presentation of new work; submissions of work-in-progress are acceptable. The competition is open to all photographic, film/video, and lens-based work, including installation. HCP will pay for the framing and shipping of artwork by fellowship recipients.

About the Juror

Christopher Rauschenberg is a prolific photographer. He has made images throughout the world, having photographed in almost every corner of the planet. His work has been the subject of nearly 100 exhibitions throughout the world including: Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the United States and Yugoslavia.

In addition, Mr. Rauschenberg has been a pivotal figure in the advancement of the photographic arts. He is the co-founder, co-curator, and board chairman of Blue Sky Gallery, where, for more than 34 years, he has co-curated and co-produced 650 solo and 45 group exhibitions. Many of these exhibitions have launched the careers of countless photographers. Rauschenberg is also the co-founder and past president of Photolucida, as well as, the co-op Nine Gallery. He has edited and produced some 60 art and photography publications.
