Houston, TX- Houston Center for Photography proudly announces its 2012 Print Auction. This event, HCP’s largest annual fundraiser, will take place Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane, Houston, TX 77027. At 6:00 pm, the evening kicks-off with cocktails, entertainment and a preview of the silent and live auctions. Dinner will be served at 6:45 pm. World-renowned auctioneer, Rick Wester, will conduct the auction of live prints beginning at 7:15pm. The silent auction will close 15 minutes after the live auction is completed. Tickets are available for purchase on HCP’s website atwww.hcponline.org or by phone; contact Sandy Vitrano at (713) 529-4755, ext. 17. Individual tickets to the event are $150. Table sponsorships are available at $1,500 or $3,000 (table for 10) and $300 (Individual Sponsor). Absentee bids are welcome. Silent Auction works are available for pre-auction purchase on HCP’s website (www.hcponline.org) with a “Buy It Now” option. All works can be previewed during HCP’s auction exhibition from January 20 – February 20, 2012.
Each year, HCP holds a print auction where artists, galleries and collectors from around the world donate fine photographic works to be auctioned for the benefit of HCP’s general operation. Representing over 80 established and mid-career photographic artists with work collected in museum and private sectors, the selection is an impressive catalog of both vintage and contemporary fine art prints. One-hundred percent of sales from the auction will go to the continued exhibition, educational, outreach, and publication work that HCP provides to not only the Houston community but to the international photography community. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s membership group, Photo Forum, will be co-hosting a tour of the auction exhibition in the HCP galleries. The tour will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012, at HCP, beginning at 6:00pm, led by Anne Wilkes Tucker, Gus and Lyndall Wortham Curator of Photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Clint Willour, Curator, Galveston Arts Center. This event is co-sponsored by Photo Forum and is free and open to the public. Drinks will be served.
Donors and Table Sponsors, along with the artists, will be invited to a Dinner and Collection Tour at the home of Jereann Chaney the evening before the auction.
