In 2002 following her graduation at UT Austin in theater arts, Leigh toured with various international production companies around the U.S. She moved to New York City to participate in a year-long internship at the Julliard School. Following her internship, she worked in various theaters as stage manager and assistant stage manager, during which time she served as stage manager for The Watermill Center and had an internship role at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. In 2006 following an internship at White Box, a contemporary art space in New York's Chelsea district, Leigh embarked on a career change to the non-profit sector of visual arts, assuming the role of Operations Manager for the organization.

During her tenure at HCP, Leigh provided Executive Director & Curator Madeline Yale with outstanding administrative, membership, and fundraising support. “Leigh was a brilliant collaborator, helping me to execute the Board’s and my vision for the organization. She consistently provided me with new ideas as to how to effectively build HCP’s community and funding base. Her commitment and enthusiasm was infectious; she greatly helped make HCP an enjoyable and exciting place to work. She was a close friend to all on staff.
