Francis Almendárez
Francis Almendárez is an interdisciplinary artist from Los Angeles, CA currently living and working in Houston, TX. His work, ranging from video installation to performance and text, incorporates music and storytelling, and brings to the foreground time, labor, and rhythm. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including at The Reading Room, Dallas, TX; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, Taiwan; Pi Artworks, London, UK; and GALERIE DIX9, Paris, France. In 2018 he was the recipient of the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship from Houston Center for Photography and in 2015 was a participant of the ICA Moscow Summer School. He has been a visiting artist at the University of Houston and has taught photography and art at various institutions including Houston Community College, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and Los Angeles Music and Art School. Almendárez received an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London and a BFA in Sculpture / New Genres from Otis College of Art and Design.
