On select Wednesdays each month, join Houston Center for Photography at Discovery Green® for free, educational photography workshops! Learn how to capture spectacular images of the lights, color, and movement of GUST, an interactive art installation at Discovery Green® from expert photographers! Bring your camera or your cell phone and a tripod, if you have one. See your work exhibited in the park at The Lakehouse Cafe at the end of the series! Class size is limited to 40 participants. Must be 16 or older. No registration required, and all levels of experience are welcome.


December 19, 2018: Motion:
Let’s get moving! Learn how to capture the movement of GUST through different techniques such as adjusting shutter speed, camera movement, and panning.

January 30, 2019: Composition Basics:

Learn how to create well-balanced and interesting photographs of GUST using simple compositional guidelines, such as Rule of Thirds, leading lines, framing, and perspective.

February 27, 2019: Understanding Color:

In response to photographing the colors of GUST, let’s consider the following questions: What is the relationship between light, exposure, and color? How does color affect composition? How does color convey certain moods?
