Through My Lens

A Virtual Exhibition of Photographs Created by Youth

In partnership with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Houston Center for Photography is pleased to present our virtual exhibition, Through My Lens, featuring a selection of works created by young immigrants and refugees to the U.S. who are served through St. Jerome Emiliani Foster Care. Under the guidance of teaching artist, Anne Houang, this group of teens met virtually for 10 weeks during the late summer and early fall of 2020 to learn about camera basics, composition, and how photography is a powerful tool to tell their own life stories. The images featured here present a small glimpse into their daily lives as they begin to build new lives for themselves as Americans.

HCP would like to express a special thank you to Monica Turcios of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for helping to make this program happen.

This program and its virtual exhibition are generously supported by the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation.
