The Learning Center Classes

Advanced Portraiture | Wednesdays | 6-9 pm

In this course, students will explore and consider several approaches to creating compelling portraits. The workshop will begin with a philosophical look at what a portrait is and defining it collectively as the foundation for discussions. Selections from key historical and current portrait photographers will be examined, and various styles in portraiture will be assigned as weekly exercises. Students will experiment with both available (natural) and studio light. Participants will start developing their own style(s) and determine when and how to use different approaches to create meaningful portraits.
