The Learning Center Classes

DIY Lighting for Photography

In these challenging times of social distancing and shelter-in-place orders, photographers are having to rethink their usual methods for creating new work. Whether you are just getting started or are a seasoned professional, this online course will provide you with Do-It-Yourself techniques for creating simple and accessible lighting solutions for your photography. Topics will include an easy to build table-top lighting set-up (suitable for food, products, or still life), an overview of window lighting and the mechanics of diffusion, and tips to build your own at-home lighting studio from everyday materials.

Attention: This class has been moved online in response to the growing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Please register as you normally would, and Houston Center for Photography staff will update you with information and a link to take this course at it’s scheduled time.

To participate in an online course, students will need access to a desktop, laptop, or tablet with an internet connection. If you have any questions about navigating our new system, please email education@hcponline.org for more information.
