Do you have boxes of old family photographs that you don’t know what to do with? This 1-hour lunchtime session will give a taste of three Houston Center for Photography courses taught by photographer and visual arts educator, Kelly Webeck including Contemporary Reinterpretations of the Family Photo Album, Remix: Reconceiving the Family Photo Album Workshop & Intensive, and From Super8 to VHS: Contemporary Artists Intervene in Home Movies. In each of these courses we look at examples of artists and photographers who use their family photo albums, found vernacular photographs, and home movies as a starting point for new pieces of contemporary art work. In this lunchtime session you will learn about the differences between these three online courses and get a taste of how content is shared as well as the types of questions that are posed to the students in each course. If you are interested in the ways that vernacular family photographs and home movies can be transformed and brought to life in new and exciting ways this session will inform you on which course offered by HCP is the best to sign up for.
