The Figure in Photography

In this course students will survey past and current approaches to depicting the human form, highlighting the many ways in which the figure has been and continues to be at the center of visual arts. Participants will discuss examples with contextual and ethical considerations to understand the evolution of the genre and its current variations. Avoiding stereotypes and exploitation when working with subject, students will be tasked to create empowering images through weekly assignments.
