Handmade Books | Tuesdays | 6-9 pm

In this course, students will create one of a kind hand-bound artist book using a series of their own photographs. Utilizing wide-ranging materials available in HCP’s John Cleary library, we will examine photobooks such as Alec Soth’s Sleeping By The Mississippi and Robert Frank’s The Americans. We will discuss sequencing, writing an artist statement, and titling your work in addition to learning about the necessary elements for a book. Working in Photoshop, students will create the layout and print the pages that will be bound into a single-edition photo book.
