Open Calls Demystified: How to Succeed with Calls for Entry

With Dorota Biczel (HCP Executive Director)
and Lou Benjamin (HCP Education Director)

This FREE introductory workshop is for anyone who practices photography, and would benefit from practical advice on how to respond to open calls for entry. While it’s not rocket science, there are some unspoken rules you should follow that many only glean from professional practices training or a fine arts degree. In this workshop, we will discuss all aspects of an open call for entry: how to thoroughly read submission guidelines; how to prepare and present a resume, C/V, and bio (and the differences between the three); the gist of what an artist statement should entail; and, finally, the selection of your work, and practical tips on preparing and naming your image files.
