The Learning Center Classes

Photography in Public Spaces

Photographs in public spaces have the power to shape us and ignite dialogue. In this online course, HCP instructor Kelly Webeck will discuss artists who intervene in the exterior landscapes of their communities by presenting photography publicly and not in a traditional gallery or museum setting. Students will examine the use of projections on exterior walls, wheat-pasted images on city streets as well as billboards that embellish our skylines as platforms for photographers to transform the landscape of their city and its architecture into gallery walls to engage in dialogue about important issues in the world, culture, and politics.
