The ubiquity of smartphones means that most of us carry a sophisticated camera and digital darkroom with us at all times. In this workshop, you’ll start by learning the fundamentals of photography, including composition and working with light in your everyday photos. After taking some time for hands-on shooting, we’ll explore options for editing your photos — cropping, adjusting color and tone, applying effects, converting to black & white, and even mimicking photographic processes and film. You’ll also learn how to transfer photos to your desktop machine and share photos via social media, email, etc. Students should bring their phone and understand the basics of shooting and adjusting photos.
Attention: This class has been moved online in response to the growing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Please register as you normally would, and Houston Center for Photography staff will update you with information and a link to take this course at it’s scheduled time.
