Smartphone Photography

Learn to shoot, edit, and share great content in this online course with Houston Center for Photography. The ubiquity of smartphones means that most of us carry a sophisticated camera and digital lab with us at all times. You’ll start by learning the fundamentals of photography, including composition and working with light in your everyday photos. After taking some time for hands-on shooting, we’ll explore options for editing your photos — cropping, adjusting color and tone, applying effects, converting to black & white, and even mimicking photographic processes and film. You’ll also learn how to transfer photos to your desktop and share photos via social media, email, and beyond.

Attention: This class has been moved online in response to the growing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Please register as you normally would, and Houston Center for Photography staff will update you with information and a link to take this course at it’s scheduled time.

To participate in an online course, students will need access to a desktop computer or laptop with an internet connection. If you have any questions about navigating our new system, please email education@hcponline.org for more information.
