Call Opening: December 9, 2020
Deadline: January 19, 2021 @ 11:59 pm CST
Contemporary Practice is an exhibition opportunity highlighting emerging undergraduate photographers with varied approaches to the medium from educational institutions across Texas. It features the diversity of contemporary photography today—from photography’s rich traditions to new, cross-disciplinary art forms. Juried by the Houston Center for Photography’s Interim Executive Director, Linda Shearer, and Exhibitions Assistant, Samuel Rhodes, this exhibition allows students to regionally interface with their peers and to gain valuable experience exhibiting their work. There is no fee for entry.
Selected artists will have their work featured in an in-person exhibition from March 12 until May 9, 2021, with an opening reception on the evening of Friday, March 12, 2021. Some artists will also have their work featured on HCP’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, each with a following that exceeds 10,000.
